Academic Coaching
Academic coaching is similar to athletic coaching since it recognizes that a student’s full potential is not being achieved. There are different coaching strategies – just as each child is different. The primary categories are:
Coaching with input from students, parents, & educators
This involves discussion with parents/guardians, possibly the educator and the child about their learning experience. Each is asked to complete a series of observations and data is collected, collated, and analyzed to give an overall view of the child, his/her learning style, personality, and cognitive strengths.
Follow-up sessions are held with the child and parents. Coaching and academic strategies are included in a management plan which is monitored on a regularly scheduled basis.
Content Area Coaching
Unlike traditional academic help, the focus is as much on the thought process as the actual assignment. Coaching looks both backwards and forwards and asks “How did you get here?” and “Is there a more effective way to do this?” Traditional academic help is skill focused and remediation oriented; coaching addresses the whole learning process so skills can be applied in life long after the academic lesson is completed. |

Project Management
From the initial topic selection, through research, paper preparation and presentation phase, we will walk a student through the entire project preparation experience. Coaching includes setting goals, developing timelines and utilizing a variety of resources to design and bring together the best possible product. |
|
Online Learning Coordination
Do you have a student who wants to learn about a specific topic? Or more about a topic briefly covered in school? We will help them find additional information. It could take the form of a webquest, college distance learning, or a community of students from around the world who join online at regular intervals to explore cultures, concepts, or ideas. |
|
Explore Robotics
