Keys to success -

Start with small steps.

Research shows goal setting and planning are two of the most important skills we can give our children.

Help your child start defining their purpose in life. Encourage them to choose activities they enjoy and grow in while they participate.  Don't overbook your child. The brain needs down time to process learning and newly acquired knowledge.

Most importantly, stimulate their imagination - even in small ways.

Play "What if?"

As a simple question...what if _______? Then join your child as you start a fantasy journey creating a story.  It is usually a good idea to set boundaries - like no blood, drugs and gore. Remember this is about ideation, creating related events, sequences and storytelling. There is so much blood, drugs and gore around these days it doesn't require the imagination.

Enjoy the stories you create. Have your child record them on a recorder or in a journal. You never know, they could be next semester's creative writing assignment!

At The Hangar, LLC - academic coaching means finding your child's strengths and coaching your child on ways to be successful more often.

Make 2008 a year that is great!

Help your child learn how to repeat his successes - not his struggles.
